Dear Quarterbacker,
UT Athletic Director, John Currie, is scheduled to be our speaker this Monday. Currie is a Wake Forest graduate and obtained his Masters of Science degree in sport management from Tennessee. In 1993, Currie started his career at Wake Forest. In 1997, he joined the University of Tennessee as Executive Director of the Athletic Fund. After serving in a variety of positions, Currie became the athletics director at Kansas State in 2009.
While at Kansas State, the Wildcats increased their operating budget by over $26 million, renovated facilities and won Big 12 championships. In 2013, Currie was one of four awarded the Under Armor Athletic Director’s of the year award. We look forward to hearing John Currie.

Interim football coach, Brady Hoke, is our scheduled speaker this week. Hoke began the season as the defensive line coach as was elevated to interim coach with the release of Butch Jones. Hoke was the previous head coach at Michigan, San Diego State, and Ball State. We look forward to seeing you there.

Third year UT basketball coach, Rick Barnes, will be our featured speaker this week. Barnes previously coached at Texas from 1998-2015. While at Texas, Barnes led the Longhorns to 17 NCAA tournament appearances and a final four. He has a career coaching record of 604-314 and is responsible for energizing the Texas basketball program. Come hear from our basketball coach and learn about this year’s team and players.

News from the Knoxville Quarterback Club November 06, 2017
Dear Quarterbacker,
Current CBS college football analyst on College Football Today, Rick Neuheisel, will be our speaker this week. During his time as a quarterback for UCLA, Neuheisel was the MVP of the Rose Bowl, set the NCAA completion percentage record for a single game (25 of 27 passes), won a PAC-10 Championship, and set a UCLA completion percentage record for a season that still stands. After graduation, he spent a few seasons in the USFL and then a few games in the NFL during the strike season.
Neuheisel then went to law school at USC, but was a grad assistant at UCLA. He became a full-time assistant at UCLA and then in 1994 went to Colorado. After the 1994 season, Colorado coach, Bill McCartney, retired and Neuheisel became the head coach at 34. After four seasons there, he left to become Washington’s head coach. He led the Huskies to an 11-1 record in 2000 and a number three ranking in the final poll. Neuheisel overlooked discipline issues on the team and was targeted by the NCAA for an NCAA basketball tournament bracket and was fired. He sued the school and the NCAA and settled for 4.5 million.
After Neuheisel left Washington, he coached at a high school and then he was an assistant coach for the Baltimore Ravens. In 2008, he was hired by UCLA as their head coach. From 2008-2011, Neuheisel went 21-29 and never beat rival USC. Neuheisel was fired in 2011. Come hear Neuheisel as he should be an entertaining and knowledgeable speaker.

Dan Wolken from USA Today will be our speaker on Monday. Wolken is the national college football reporter for USA Today. He grew up in Hot Springs Arkansas and attended Vanderbilt University. Wolken will bring a wealth of knowledge regarding college football.

Dear Quarterbacker,
SEC Network co-host, Chris Doering , will be our speaker on Monday. Doering starred as a wide receiver at the University of Florida from 1991-1995. Doering was a walk-on player in 1991 and redshirted his first year. He went on to earn a scholarship and enjoy great success. His receptions are sixth best in Flodida history, his receiving yards are 10th best and his touchdowns were an SEC best. He earned first team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors. In the 1996 draft, Doering was selected in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was traded to the Colts before the start of the season. He went on to play for the Bengals , Broncos, Steelers and Redskins. He finished his NFL career with 42 receptions for 476 yards and three touchdowns.

Dear Quarterbacker,
Former Virginia Tech coach, Frank Beamer, will be the speaker this week. Beamer played quarterback for the Hokies from 1966-1968. After some other coaching stops, he came back to Virginia Tech from 1987 until 2015. At the time of his retirement, he was the winningest active coach in Division 1 FBS. Beamer’s Virginia Tech teams were known for their excellent special teams. Since 1987, 35 different players have scored a touchdown on special teams. Beamers teams went to 23 consecutive bowl games, three Big East Championships, and four ACC championships. He amassed a 280-143-4 overall record as a head coach. In 1999, he won numerous Coah of the Year Awards. Beamer is now on the College Playoff Committee.

Dear Quarterbacker,
Aaron Murray will be our speaker this week. Murray was a quarterback at the University of Georgia from 2009-2013. He set the SEC career touchdown record and the SEC’s career yardage record. He became the first SEC quarterback to pass for 3,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. During his senior season, Murray suffered an ACL injury that ended his collegiate career. He was drafted in the 2014 NFL draft in the fifth round by the Kansas City Chiefs and was released in 2016. Please come and enjoy Aaron Murray.

Dear Quarterbacker,
Former Arkansas and Ole Miss Coach, Houston Nutt, will be our featured speaker this week. Nutt was a star football and basketball player growing up. He initially played at Arkansas, but transferred to Oklahoma State and played both sports there.
After graduation, Nutt was a grad assistant for Jimmy Johnson at Oklahoma State and then Lou Holtz at Arkansas. Nutt then returned to Oklahoma State as an assistant coach and mentored Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas during his time there.
After head coaching stints at Murray State and Boise State, Nutt became head coach of Arkansas in 1997.In the first six seasons, he led the Razorbacks to a bowl game in each year and averaged eight wins a year. Arkansas had up and down years for the next several years and Nutt eventually resigned in 2007.
In November of 2007, he was hired as head coach at Ole Miss. He started strong but ended with an overall record of 24-26 over four years. He is responsible for the SEC enacting the scholarship signing limits.
Nutt has recently been involved in a lawsuit against Ole Miss that has led to the ouster of Hugh Freeze.

Dear Quarterbacker,
Former Tennessee Titan, Kevin Carter, will be our speaker on Monday. Carter is a college football analyst for ESPN and the SEC Network. Carter was a 1994 consensus All-American at the University of Florida. During his time with the Gators, they won the SEC three times. He was also named to Florida’s All -Century Team, 100th Anniversary team and inducted into the University of Florida Hall of Fame.
1n 1995, Carter was drafted with the sixth overall pick to the St. Louis Rams. He went on to play 14 seasons with the Rams, Titans, Dolphins and Buccaneers. During his NFL career, he was a Super Bowl Champion, two time Pro Bowler, All-Pro one time, 1999 NFL sacks leader, and finished with 104.5 sacks. In 14 seasons in the NFL, he never missed a game, playing in 224 consecutively.

Zucker calls football, basketball, lacrosse and baseball for the CBS Network. He is a 1998 graduate of Syracuse University and resides in New Jersey.
