Dear Quarterbacker,
We are excited to have Brett McMurphy come speak to us on Monday. This should be a very interesting speaker at this time of year. He will have a pulse on potential coaching changes, candidates, and the status of certain programs. He also will have some insight into the Ohio State situation with Urban Meyer. The story has not played out in its entirety so it will be interesting to hear his perspective. We look forward to seeing you at our last meeting of the year.

Dear Quarterbacker,
This Monday we are pleased to have the University of Tennessee head football coach, Jeremy Pruitt, come speak to us. This is Pruitt’s first head coaching position after serving as the defensive coordinator at Alabama, Georgia and Florida State. His defenses were consistently in the top 10 nationally and he has been part of multiple national championship teams.
Pruitt has twice been a Broyles Award finalist. This award is given annually to the nation’s top assistant coach. He also was named 2012 national recruiter of the year by 247Sports. Please join us in supporting Jeremy Pruitt.

Shaylie Rutherford
Freshman, Animal Science Major
High School: Bearden High School
Shaylie is a first semester freshman here at UTK. She is majoring in Kinesiology with hopes to pursue a career as an athletic trainer. She was a 4-year member of the Bearden High School Dance Team and served as the team co-captain her senior year, leading Bearden to the Universal Dance Association National Championship. Academically, she is an accomplished student. She was inducted into the National Honors Society and Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society.

News from the Knoxville Quarterback Club                                        November 12, 2018

Dear Quarterbacker,
ESPN college football analyst, Tom Luginbill, will be our speaker on Monday. Luginbill played quarterback in Junior College and amassed 21 wins and a national championship. He became the number one JUCO recruit in the country and decided to attend Georgia Tech, under Bill Lewis. The following year, Lewis was let go and replaced by Coach George O’Leary. O’Leary brought a different offensive scheme so Luginbill decided to finish his career at Eastern Kentucky.
Luginbill currently serves as a recruiting and scouting analyst for The Athletic as well as an anaylst for ESPN.

Please be there to congratulate her and it is also your opportunity to support this service award that we do as a group each year. Any donation helps . This is our fundraising meeting. News from the Knoxville Quarterback Club                                        October 29, 2018

Dear Quarterbacker,
Neyland Award Winner, Roy Kramer, will be our speaker this Monday. Kramer was the Commissioner of the SEC from 1990-2002. During his leadership, the conference won 81 National Championships which was the most ever in a decade by the league.
Kramer led the last expansion of the SEC with the addition of Arkansas and South Carolina. He created the divisional play and first ever Division 1A Conference Football Championship Game. Kramer was also responsible for the Bowl Championship Series. Please come and show your appreciation to Roy Kramer.

News from the Knoxville Quarterback Club                                        October 21, 2018

Dear Quarterbacker,
This Monday we will hear from ESPN color analyst, Brock Huard. Huard was a Gatorade National Player of the Year coming out of high school. He chose the University of Washington and went on to set school passing yards, touchdown passes, 300+ games, and attempts without an interception. He was also named an Academic All-American his final two years. After his collegiate career, Huard was drafted in the third round to the Seahawks. His career in the NFL spanned from 1999-2004 where he battled injuries and inconsistent play. Huard now has a radio show and is a color analyst for college football games.

We look forward to a wonderful opportunity to hear from the Executive Director of the College Football Playoffs, Bill Hancock. The first rankings will come out within a week. We will get an insight into how the procedure works and how the committee ranks their teams. Hancock was a previous BCS commissioner.

Dear Quarterbacker,
Former Auburn BCS National Championship coach, Gene Chizik, will be our speaker this week. Chizik coached at Auburn from 2009-2012. Auburn won the championship in 2010 and Chizik was named National Coach of the Year by various organizations.
Current Auburn Head Coach, Gus Malzahn, was hired by Chizik as the offensive coordinator. Chizik coached as the defensive coordinator at North Carolina in 2016 before he retired. He now works for ESPN.

Dear Quarterbacker,
This Monday we are pleased to have the University of Tennessee Athletic Director, Phillip Fulmer, come speak to us. Fulmer played for the Vols from 1968-1971. After several stops as an assistant coach, Fulmer came back to Tennessee in 1980 and served as an assistant for 13 years. In 1992 he became head coach and served in that capacity until 2008. His record as a head coach was 152-52, two SEC Championships and one National Championship. Please come welcome Phillip Fulmer on Monday.

Dear Quarterbacker,

We look forward to seeing you on Monday as we hear from former University of Georgia All-American offensive lineman, Matt Stinchcomb. Stinchcomb played from 1995-1998 and earned All-American honors in both the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He also earned the Draddy Award as well as the Jacobs Blocking Trophy. He was selected to be in Georgia’s “Circle of Honor” as well as the 2009 class of “SEC Legends”. The Oakland Raiders selected him with the 18th pick in the 1999 NFL draft.
Stinchcomb played 7 seasons in the NFL. In addition to the Oakland Raiders, he also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stinchcomb battled injuries throughout his career and had to retire because of them.
Stinchomb currently works for ESPN and the SEC Network. He also is in the insurance business with former Georgia Quarterback, David Greene.

Dear Quarterbacker,
                This week we will welcome Fox analyst, Danny Kanell, as our speaker for the Quarterback Club. Kanell played quarterback for Florida State University from 1992-1995. As a player at FSU, he threw for 6,372 yards and 57 touchdowns. After his collegiate career, Kanell was drafted in the fourth round by the New York Giants. He spent the next nine years in the NFL as well as the Arena Football League for a year.
                After his professional career, Kanell worked for ESPN as a football analyst. He now is employed by Fox in the same capacity. He also hosts his own show on SiriusXM.

Dear Quarterbacker,
Welcome back to football season! This is a reminder that the 67th year of the Knoxville Quarterback Club will be kicking off its first meeting on Monday, September the 10th at Calhoun’s on the River. Come be a part of the club as we honor a yesterday’s hero, a high school athlete of the week, and an outstanding official of the week. Jeff Hagood has done an excellent job again this year of booking some outstanding speakers. We will have Jeremy Pruitt, Gene Chizik, Matt Stinchcomb, Brock Huard, Rick Barnes, Brett McMurphy, and the president of the College Football Playoffs, Bill Hancock, along with other great speakers this year. We will also have assistant coaches speak for a few minutes.

SEC Network co-host, Chris Doering , will be our speaker on Monday. Doering starred as a wide receiver at the University of Florida from 1991-1995. Doering was a walk-on player in 1991 and redshirted his first year. He went on to earn a scholarship and enjoy great success. His receptions are sixth best in Flodida history, his receiving yards are 10th best and his touchdowns were an SEC best. He earned first team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors.
In the 1996 draft, Doering was selected in the sixth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was traded to the Colts before the start of the season. He went on to play for the Bengals , Broncos, Steelers and Redskins. He finished his NFL career with 42 receptions for 476 yards and three touchdowns.
